Working as an independent contractor for leading renewable energy companies – Alternative Energy, Inc. focuses on projects in the Northeast region. We specialize in early phase development - including site selection, lease negotiations, government / public relations and local permitting.

Founder Bill Finch was pivotal in land acquisition, community relations and local permitting for the 80 Megawatt - Eastern Shore Solar (ESS) project in Accomack County Virginia. ESS is being developed by Community Energy, Inc. and received conditional use approval at the County level in January 2015. Scheduled to begin construction in the 3rd quarter of this year, ESS will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power the equivalent of 20,000 homes.

Bill was heavily involved with permitting and community relations for the 6 MW Keystone Solar Project in Lancaster County, PA - also developed by Community Energy, Inc.

The Coatesville Solar Initiative (CSI) is a 9.1 megawatt project in Chester County, PA. CSI is awaiting final approval of a power purchase agreement with the local school district. Bill’s role in obtaining local and state permits included delicate communications to skeptical and sometimes hostile citizen groups.

Bill is currently is involved in land acquisition and community relations on solar projects in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, New York and Massachusetts.

Mr. Finch is experienced in public policy management and worked as a registered lobbyist in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Florida. He served five years as a Corporate Fellow of the National Governors Association (NGA) – serving on the NGA Environmental Advisory Committee.
